From: Steve Hamm <hamm@adttx.sps.mot.com>

spFactor is a L-U matrix factorization function in a sparse matrix
package -- evidently PowerMill uses "sparse" from Berkeley. Looking at
the version of "sparse" that I have, error=3 corresponds to a singular
matrix -- but the PowerMill authors could have changed the codes.

So, do you get any topology error messages (loops of inductors/voltage
sources, floating nodes) if you run the netlist in HSPICE? This would
be an easy way to generate a singular matrix.

PowerMill should give a bit more diagnostic help here...
