Subject: How Is Process Numbering Done In Synopsys Cell Library Modeling ?

Hi, John,

I am writing Synopsys model for a cell. In it we need to specify the
operating conditions in terms of "PROCESS", "TEMPERATURE" and "VOLTAGE"
for BEST, TYPICAL and WORST case conditions. I know how to specify the
temperature & voltage. However we are arbitrarily putting the process
numbers as 1, 2 & 3 for BEST, TYPICAL & WORST operating conditions
respectively. But we are not sure about their correctness since the SDF
file generated by using these process numbers does not seem to have
correct timing values. When we changed these process numbers to 1.9,
2.0 & 2.1 for BEST, TYPICAL & WORST operating conditions respectively
we got the correct SDF files in terms of delay & transition time
values. Also I have seen Synopsys models of some other cell libraries
in which the process numbers have values like 1.28, 0.728 etc.

These cells have been designed for a specific foundry & we are ourselves
characterizing these cells.

Can anyone please let me know how this process numbering is done ?
