Subject: Cheap Bastards Synopsys Now Charging For "set_compile_directives"

Dear John,

A couple years ago, I asked on ESNUG if there was a way to have dc_shell
delete dangling gates without doing any other optimizations. The answer
came back as:

  set_compile_directives DESIGN_NAME -delete true -constant true \
         -local false -critical false
  compile -incremental -only_design_rule

And it appeared to work. I needed it again today, and just put it in a
script. Now dc_shell says:

Error: DC Ultra license required to use 'set_compile_directives'. (UIO-65)

Turns out that I have a DC Expert License. It appears that Synopsys has
changed the licensing requirements for this command -- to extract more
$$$ from us. You didn't need to pay extra for this before! Boooooooo!

BTW, I did a "help set_compiler_directives" in dc_shell, and it says that
I only need a DC Expert or DC Expert Plus license. (I'm using 98.02.)

Charging more for "set_compile_directives" -- Booooooo! Bad idea!
