Dear John,

Let me first thank you for the informative, educational and somewhat painful
SNUG'01 Trip Report. I am the product marketing manager for BSD Compiler
and would like to acknowledge the issues raised regarding our boundary scan
synthesis and verification tool.

The customer comments are not unjustified. We have identified many of the
issues and are actively working to fix these defects in upcoming releases.
Please note that some of the issues that were raised had already been
addressed in the current release (2000.11).

In addition to fixing bugs, R&D is working hard on diagnostic enhancements
to BSD Compiler's unique IEEE1149.1 compliance checking features, and
improving the overall boundary scan design flow.

We hope these enhancements will also address many of the issues raised by
the user community.

Finally, Synopsys strongly believes that boundary scan is becoming a
critical part of upcoming test requirements, and we hope that our user
community will see the progress that we are making with BSD Compiler in
the current release and upcoming versions.

Regards,

    - Mouli Chandramouli, Product Line Manager
Synopsys Test Automation Products Mountain View, CA
