Hi John,

FYI, the Sun Grid Engine, the open source project, is maintained for Solaris
SPARC and Linux x86, but executables for other platforms are available via
binary license as well. Binaries are available for Compaq Tru64 Unix, HP
HP-UX, IBM AIX, Linux Alpha, SGI IRIX, and Sun Solaris x86. The Grid Engine
5.3 supported platforms list may be found at:

     http://gridengine.sunsource.net/project/gridengine/download.html

I'm reading the manuals now, and plan on deploying a 40-CPU-sized farm during
the next few weeks running on Sun Solaris SPARC.

Hi, John,

The Sun Grid Engine is not only free on Solaris and Linux, but it is also
available in open source at http://gridengine.sunsource.net through the Sun
Industry Standards Source License. This is less rigid than the General
Public License [GPL] and allows users to create and write their own
proprietary distributions without having to give that code back to the
development community. Thus, you can port it to every platform. From this
same website, you can also download courtesy binaries for Compaq, HP, IBM,
and SGI platforms, for free. Professional support for the non-Solaris
platforms is available through Sun's partner network.
