Subject: How Do I Run DC/PhysOpt For The Fastest Adders? Any Alternatives?

Hi John,

I am wondering if anyone could share their thoughts about choosing the best
way to synthesize a processor core (say MIPS core for example) to get the
maximum speed? I currently do the conventional ASIC synthesis approach
with Synopsys tools and tweaking the outcome with the plethora of switches
that DC/PhysOpt offers. I would like to know if anyone has done any kind
of comparisons with this flow and another flow and found better results.

Also are there any faster implementations of adders and other arithmetic
elements available elsewhere that are not part of DesignWare?
