Subject: User good first impressions of Conformal-LP from training class

Hi, John,
I recently attended the Low Power Workshop at the Cadence office and found
their Conformal-LP to be a valuable tool. It verifies that all power
domain crossings are correct and can identify missing and redundant level
shifters and isolation cells. Conformal-LP can also detect non-equivalence
between the golden and revised versions of a design whenever logic is moved
across the power boundary. Using formal engines, Conformal-LP can prove if
the state retention and isolation cells are working correctly or not.
As satisfied Conformal-LEC users we are exploring Conformal-LP's use in the
logic block of our memory verification in the future.

Hi, Farookh,
Thanks for your letter, but I'm confused... You took a workshop and now
you're convinced that Conformal-LP is a great tool? That's the sole basis
of why you think Conformal-LP is great? Not years of experience using it;
not that it solved some harrowing power reduction problem on a real project
of yours; but just from a workshop? Please clarify.

Hi, John,
My initial positive impression is based on what I saw during the workshop.
I liked the fact that Conformal-LP is addressing verification issues that
are going to be increasingly common in future low power designs. I just
wanted to share my thoughts with you and find out the experiences of others
in this space.
We have extensive experience with LEC -- another product from the Cadence
Conformal family.

That's OK, Farookh. It's one thing for a user experienced in a tool
to recommend it; it's quite another to like a tool only from taking its
training class. I just wanted to know where you were coming from.
