Subject: Ciranova PyCell user wants Cadence IC 6.1 to work for Open Access
Hi John,
I was wondering if any of your ESNUG subscribers were running into a
problem I'm having.
We use Cadence IC5141 for designing analog and RF ICs. All our current
databases are in CDB format.
I'm interested in trying out some of Ciranova's PyCell products, but
wish to do so in IC6.1, the "latest" and "greatest" suite of analog
design tools. I've tried migrating from IC5141 to ICOA5251 with some
success, but want to use IC6.1 so I have access to the lastest Open
Access libraries. I figured this would be a fairly straight forward
upgrate, just like going from IC445 to IC5033 was.
However, I find that the feature numbers of the tools have changed, so
my license file won't work with IC6.1. Furthermore, since we purchase
our licenses through the tricky mechanism of an "eda card" (Cadence
term) we can't even seem to order $0 ugrades to 6.1.
To Cadence's credit, they seem to be trying to rectify the situation, but
this just seems to illustrate to me how awry things seem to be in Cadence,
especially with respect to analog design. The range of products open to
us is pretty small compared to digital, so my hope was OA, while not
perfect, might open things up a bit.
Any ideas anyone?
