63 DEATHS: Here's the companies that didn't make it to DAC'12 separated into
three major lists -- 3 "known dead" real EDA companies, 35 "unknown status"
real EDA companies, and 26 "not-really-EDA" companies -- all 64 of which had
shown at a prior DAC but were missing by/at DAC'12.

Missing at DAC'12 - 3 "known dead" real EDA companies:

    ChipVision AG
    GateRocket
    Mephisto DA

No real surprizes here. Eveyone already knows these 3 are gone.

Missing at DAC'12 - 35 "unknown status" real EDA companies:

    ACCIT New Systems Research
    ACML 2 WCL
    Agnisys, Inc.
    AnaGlobe Techonology
    Artwork Conversion Software
    ASIC Analytic LLC
    CAST, Inc.
    Compaan Design
    Coupling Wave Solutions (CWS)
    CyberEDA Corp.
    E-System Design
    Enterpoint Ltd
    Elastix Corp
    Grid Simulation Tech.
    InPA Systems
    JTAG Tech.
    Legend Design Tech.
    Lynguent
    Mathworks, Inc.
    Micrologic DA
    Nangate
    OneSpin Solutions GmbH
    Polyteda
    R3 Logic, Inc.
    Reveal DA
    S2C, Inc.
    Sapient Systems, Inc.
    Silvaco, Inc.
    Silicon Frontline
    Teklatech A/S
    TexEDA Design, Inc.
    TinnoTek, Inc.
    Tuscany DA, Inc.
    XJTAG Ltd.
    Zocalo Tech, Inc.

This is the land of questions. The web sites for AnaGlobe, CyberEDA,
Elastix, Lyngeunt, InPA Systems were last updated in 2011??? Nangate,
CAST, OneSpin, Tuscany, Silicon Frontline, Polyteda, Silvaco were all
at prior DAC's but were missing this year??? There's a whole group of
tools dedicated to C-based design, yet The Mathworks missed this DAC??
These are all mostly EDA companies where it's DAC or die. Are they
  dead, dying, lost, just-forgot-there-was-a-DAC-this-year?

  Missing at DAC'12 - 26 IPs, fabs, consultants, those not-really-EDA co's

    ASIC Serve LTD
    Avant Technology
    BigC
    Element 14
    ExpertIO, Inc.
    Hewlett-Packard
    IBM
    iHS iSuppli
    InnoPower Tech
    iNoCs
    IQ-Analog
    L&T Infotech
    MoSys, Inc.
    National Instruments
    Palmchip Corp.
    Paradigm Works, Inc.
    Physware
    Polar Instruments
    Progate Group Corp
    Quest Developement Corp.
    Silicon Design Solutions
    Silicon-IP, Inc.
    Sonics, Inc.
    STM-Products
    UMC
    X-Fab Semi Foundries

These are the not-really-EDA companies where DAC is "nice" for them,
but not a do-or-die situation. Fabs like IBM, UMC, X-FAB; IP companies
like ExpertIO, IQ-Analog, L&T Infotech, MoSys, PalmChip, Sonics; and
odd companies like BigC, Element 14, and iHS iSuppli. Are these co's
  in trouble or not? Unsure.

19 HAPPY MARRIAGES: Here's the companies who had shown at DAC's before but
had not shown at DAC'12 because they were acquired.

  Missing at DAC'12 - 19 acquired companies

    Accelicon acquired by Agilent
    Altos acquired by Cadence
    AutoESL acquired by Xilinx
    Azuro acquired by Cadence
    CoFluent acquired bt Intel
    CoWare, Inc. acquired by Synopsys
    Denali acquired by Cadence
    Extreme DA acquired by Synopsys
    Isilon Systems acquired by EMC
    LogicVision acquired by Mentor
    Magma DA acquired by Synopsys
    Prolific acquired by ARM
    Rapid Bridge acquired by Qualcomm
    Sequence acquired by Apache
    Synchronicity acquired by Dassault
    Synfora acquired by Synopsys
    Vast Corp. acquired by Synopsys
    Veridae acquired by Tektronix
    Zeland acquired by Mentor

Yea, although most above were "happy" acquisitions, I'd hazard to say that
the Extreme DA and Magma deals were more like shotgun weddings -- or perhaps
more like two kidnap-murder situations -- depending how you view them.
