Subject: Peggy bans 49er cheerleaders, Gabe wants Denali party cancelled

Yesterday morning I received the GabeOnEDA.com mailing with his coverage of
the recent DAC'12 and my jaw dropped when I read the following:

"The 49ers Cheerleaders Squad unwittingly provided the most significant
controversy of the conference. Their performance at the beginning of
the DAC plenary session was announced and then cancelled after an
informal protest about sexual stereotyping launched by Peggy Aycinena.

The performance was an example of how DAC Executive Committee is trying
to raise attendance. Transforming DAC into a consumer oriented marketing
show counting on a testosterone rush to increase attendance has now been
officially shown to be a failed idea. Had the DAC Executive Committee
dedicated about 15 minutes to think about this idea, they would have
  avoided the fiasco."

      - from "Assembling the Future #16" (GOE 06/26/12)

I can't believe this. The DAC Executive Committee caved into to the angry
feminazi rants of Granny Peggy Aycinena????? WTF? Just because Peggy
wouldn't have appreciated these cheerleaders, a good 90% of the heterosexual
male population at this DAC would have! WTF???

Then in the very next paragraph of the same mailing, I read Gabe Moretti
wrote:

"In my opinion it is time for Cadence to retire the Denali Party.
Another example of libido that has outlived its time, the party had
significance when a small and very successful company like Denali
created an environment of relaxed camaraderie among attendees.

Cadence's corporate profile just does not fit the party atmosphere.
The company has arrived to its destiny as a reliable provider of EDA
tools jousting with Mentor to be number two in the industry. The
future will not be significantly different a year or five years from
now: the future is now. Sanjay would have seized the opportunity and
had the GoldRush at the party! This is the difference between Denali
then and Cadence now. Cadence personality is not reflected in the
Tuesday evening party. Why not instead be the sponsor of the
  Official DAC party on Wednesday?"

      - from "Assembling the Future #16" (GOE 06/26/12)

WTF is going on???? First, Peggy's gone all ranty prudish feminazi

and now Gabe Moretti is this weird old man who's writing is now like he's
Pat Robinson of the 700 Club calling for the end of one of the most loved
and fun events at DAC -- the Denali party???? And he's suggesting that
Cadence just dump that party money into general DAC party fund??? That's
really really really bad marketing advice with prudishness thrown in.

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

These two really bad ideas by Peggy and Gabe remind me of the San Diego
DAC of 2004, the DAC Executive Committee then wanted to orginally hold the
big DAC Wednesday Party on the USS Midway, a WWII aircraft carrier museum
in San Diego bay -- until someone thought the Japanese DAC attendees would
have been offended!

Magma jumped on the chance and booked the entire aircraft carrier for one
really fantastic party. I was there with 800 DAC attendees. We got to
tour the entire carrier with guides who had actually served on it in WWII!
Yea, there was a band on the main deck and they gave out free beer. There
were four dancing girls on stage with the band in front of 800 guys and
guess what granny feminazi was offended??? Yup, Peggy.

"As evidenced by numerous parties and at least one mouse pad,
women's bodies continue to be the currency of the realm in
our industry. If you were lucky enough to be invited to
several of the blow-out beer and booze orgies on Tuesday night
at DAC in San Diego, you saw that engineers and executives
continue to be titillated by young women with bouncing bosoms.
It's not a surprise that sex sells beer; that it sells design
automation tools may continue to amaze and amuse (a few)."

         - Peggy Aycinena (Aycinena.com 06/16/04)

Peggy was furious back then not only about the Magma dancing girls, but also
by the Denali party and an EVE mouse pad giveaway with a pretty woman on it.

What was the reaction to Peggy's neo-Victorian rants? "Who cares?," was the
private response of some very well known EDA executives back then.

But now Peggy Aycinena finally gets her wish -- she has set up herself up
as the one-woman-DAC-purity-censor and the DAC Executive Committee doesn't
have the balls to stand up to her! How pathetic is that????

And a new "700 Club" Gabe Moretti now agrees with her??? WTF?!!???
