Hi, John,
Thanks for publishing that "secret link" to those party pics in DeepChip.
We had 1,100 people visit that page in the 48 hours after your News and
Rumors email blast went out. Wow.
Anyway, I'm writing to ask your readers for a different kind of assistance
with the EDA History Project. The Computer History Museum has 30,000 ft^2
warehouse and display area nearly filled with general-purpose computing
equipment from days gone by -- but nothing from the early days of EDA. In
particular, the museum is interested in custom hardware/workstations like:
- Calma
- Applicon
- Daisy
- Valid
- Mentor Graphics (Apollo workstations)
- Quickturn, Zycad, Ikos or other hardware accelerators
We also need the related historical stuff that goes with these boxes like:
- Software for any of the above hardware
- User manuals and/or hardware manuals for this hardware
- instructional or demo videos showing early EDA hardware in action
- Quality photographs of any of this hardware
If your readers have old EDA hardware or software taking up valuable space
in their garages or storage lockers, I want to ask could you please donate
it to an organization that will properly care for and treasure it???
Please have your readers contact me at the Computer History Museum:
dfairbairn@computerhistory.org
If you have something, just email me. We'll arrange everything.
