Hi, John,
Please keep me and my company name anonymous for obvious reasons.
We're surveying next generation PD tools to ramp up our next big project.
Our problem is that we don't want to invite any of the Synopsys or Magma
sales people to our group. If they smell money, these sales people will
be all over my staff and my managment chain of command with a pathetic
"niceness campaign". They've done it before. They act exactly like newly
found distant relatives at a rich uncle's funeral.
I see on DeepChip you have Blast Fusion Magma demos on line. Do you have
any demos for their new Cobra stuff or for Synopsys IC Compiler? Any user
evals? We'd like to get as much real info about these new tools before
inviting the "nice" salesmen in. Any help would be appreciated.

Hello John,
I've heard that Cobra is more powerful than Synopsys IC Compiler and
Cadence Encounter. Did you or any of your readers ever evaluate Cobra?
Please tell me your feeling.

Hi John,
I recently attended Synopsys presentation for IC Compiler. What I found
interesting were their claims of concurrent physical optimization and
power optimization during CTS based on gated-clock realignment. Can any
of your ESNUG readers confirm that this actually works like Synopsys
says it does? The integration between Astro, PrimeTime, and StarRC seems
to be tight and promising. IC Compiler definitely looks good on paper.
I am a current Astro user. I'm interested in knowing from the IC Compiler
early adopters when or if we should switch. I would appreciate their
honest feedback regarding IC Compiler.

Hi John,
I liked the concurrent multi-mode, multi-corner optimization of IC Compiler
that was presented at SNUG 2005. I was wondering if those who have tried
it can comment on how well it does or doesn't work.
