The Wiretap Intercept No. 081015
opinions and skeptical speculations too small to fit into an Industry Gadfly column

This morning at Cadence, by "mutual agreement", the following bigwigs
"resigned":

   Bigwig Title 2007 Compensation
   -------------- --------------- ------------------
   Michael Fister CEO & President $ 13,509,651
Kevin Bushby Exec VP for Field $ 3,858,759
James Miller Exec VP for Products $ 3,604,634
   William Porter CFO $ 3,793,860
   R.L. Smith McKeithen General Counsel $ 2,068,400

                                           Total: $ 26,835,304

With 260 million shares outstanding, this one pleasant move increased
CDNS profitability by 10.3 cents a share!

Considering the "stellar" performance Mike Fister and his cronies did
to EDA and to Cadence's longstanding leadership of the industry, for
a paltry $2 million a year, I, John Cooley hearby volunteer to become
the new CEO of Cadence.

(Hell, with Fister & Friends gone and even a *minimally* competent
management coming in its place, CDNS value can only go up from what
these clowns did to it.)

As the new *minimally* competent CEO of Cadence I promise:

  - My life won't revolve around fancy shoes nor fancy clothes.
I'll be the worst dressed person in the room at all times.

  - I'd restaff Cadence management with EDA veterans, not people
from outside the industry who have no clue how EDA works.

  - Cadence will reclaim its place at DAC and at the industry
conferences. Cadence will reclaim its voice there, too.

  - I'll revamp Virtuoso to preserve it's monopoly position.

  - I'll only stall on industry standards until my Cadence
engineers can develope killer apps in those niches.

  - Realistic pricing for all Cadence tools; not crazy high
nor crazy low. Emphasis on long term developement will
be the goal, NOT quickie make-a-buck-now sales.

  - I'll actually show up at the CDNS User Group meetings and
actually talk with the hands-on users of my tools. Kissing
up to users would take precedence over kissing up to Wall St.

  - I'll honestly try to figure out what my PCB division does
even though I'm really just a chip guy.

  - I'll rejoin EDAC, etc. It's simply dumb not being there.

  - I'd have Cadence tools and technology dominate the *open* EDA
press like it used to in the days of Costello -- instead of
just pumping out mindless rah-rah propaganda press releases
on the web than no one honestly believes.

  - Cadence has some kick ass EDA people; with the business stunts
gone, I'd unleash them to get kick ass tools & support for
users and return to giving Aart, Wally, and Rajeev headaches
where it really hurts instead of just short term business pranks.

If you support this platform for CDNS (plus getting me a nice juicy
but reasonable $2 million dollar a year salary!), please directly
contact John B. Shoven, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Cadence,
and vote for me!

P.S. Hey, I can't make it any worst than what Mike Fister did! [grin]
